Getty Images Inc. has fired another shot in the ongoing controversy over the use of copyrighted works to train artificial intelligence algorithms.
following its U.K. complaint, Getty said it licenses the use of its images for training artificial intelligence models, because it sees the potential for the technology to be used for artistic purposes. But such uses have to respect"personal and intellectual property rights," it said. The lawsuits follow Stability announcement last October that it had raised $101 million in a Series A round that gave it a valuation of more than $1 billion. Among its major backers are Lightspeed Venture Partners, which is based in Menlo Park, and Coatue Management LLC, whose Bay Area office led the investment.Getty's U.S. and U.K.
