However, despite Gotti's reputation as a ruthless mobster, it was in 1984 that he somewhat lowered his guard after meeting an Italian-American woman named Andrea Giovino. As revealed in Get Gotti, Giovino had a strong reputation for attracting wealthy and influential figures, having become close to the mob after an encounter with John Gotti and Mark Reiter. From there, she would learn as much about the mobster life and use it to her advantage.
Where Is Andrea Giovino Now? After narrowly avoiding multiple brushes with the law and death, Andrea eventually decided after a 1992 arrest that she would change her life for good. She gradually but firmly disassociated from the mob and its lifestyle after her husband and brother were convicted for multiple heinous crimes, and she devoted more of her time and energy to being a mother.
She also wrote a memoir, Divorced from the "Mob: My Journey from Organized Crime to Independent Woman. Andrea has remained ironclad in her decision to not only abstain from the mob but help as many people as possible stay away from it.
