Rochester NY - The George Eastman Museum has announced a new scholarship available to black students at the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation for the 2024 – 2025 academic year.
The L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation was established in 1996 by producer L. Jeffrey Selznick and Paolo Cherchi Usai, the former Senior Curator at the George Eastman Museum. School of Film Preservation’s purpose is to educate students with interest in advancing the conservation of moving images. In 2005, the University of Rochester collaborated with the Selznick School to create a two-year Master of Arts degree program.
The Diedrea D. Tisdale Memorial Scholarship is a fund intended to support students, which according to a statement released by representatives of the program, “Advances our institution’s key strategic goal of fostering more inclusive museums and archives and empowering talented individuals from underrepresented communities.” The fund for the scholarship was donated in honor of the late Diedrea D. Tisdale, a Rochester resident.
