George Conway says the GOP has a 'terrible choice' to make: Fight Donald Trump, or get hit by the blast radius as he self-destructs
Political commentator and prominent lawyer George Conway said on Wednesday that the GOP has a"terrible choice" now that former President Donald Trump is running in 2024: Let him implode, or fight him for the nomination.— said on MSNBC that taking down Trump requires a"one-on-one" challenge from a GOP politician. That's because a split race would result in Trump winning the presidential primary even with"30 or 40%" of the vote, Conway added.
"The Republican Party has a problem," Conway said."They have to fight Trump or let him self-destruct, but they're gonna be in the blast radius. It's just a terrible, terrible choice that the Republican Party faces.""They're clearly not as afraid of him as they once were, they clearly don't want to kiss the ring in the way they once kissed the ring," Conway said of the GOP.
"But the problem is, he's still there and he still has a chunk of the party, rank-and-file members of the party, who are almost cultishly in support of him," Conway added."He'll burn the house down before he lets anyone else take the nomination from him."
