Generation Z can become happier and healthier by reconsidering social media, food and politics [Opinion]
contains 63 grams of sugar, over double the maximum amount of sugar recommended per day for women and far above the maximum for men. I believe that products containing this much sugar should require more conspicuous labeling. One would think that people would have to go out of their way to buy food crammed with added sugars and other chemicals and preservatives, and that organic, natural products would be more readily available, but this couldn’t be further from reality.
Lastly, in addition to the issues surrounding social media and unhealthy diets, Gen Z finds itself in the midst of one of the most divisive and tribalistic time periods in our nation’s history. There is less bipartisan cooperation, political rhetoric is turning violent, and confidence in our shared values has been shaken. It is crucial that future leaders of this country see through the current political storm and pursue the change that is necessary.
Many of us take after the political views of those around us — our families, classmates and teachers, and religious groups. However, social “unconscious” biases have been ingrained in many of us by these same institutions.
