Europe's leading gaming convention will be packed with news from Sony ('Death Stranding'), Microsoft ('Gears 5'), Square Enix ('Marvel's Avengers') and CD Projekt ('Cyberpunk 2077'), with Google expected to unveil the games for Stadia Connect, its upcoming streaming service.

The future of gaming, in the form of online streaming services, will also be in focus with Google expected to reveal more details of its upcoming Stadia Connect service, including features, playable games and technical requirements. Google will stream a live press conference from Gamescom on Monday, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on“Streaming is the next big thing for gaming,” says Keighley, pointing to X Box's Project X Cloud and PlayStation's PlayStation Now services.
Long-term, however, Keighley sees streaming as part of an overall trend towards “lowering the barriers to entry” for the gaming industry. He points to the“When you no longer have to pay $60 for a game, or buy an expensive console, when it's easier to invite your friends, you see the audience for gaming expand,” he says. Keighley points to the success of Gamescom itself, which he compares to a music festival.
