'Americans have the right to enjoy some live entertainment without getting ripped off,' said Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr.

“When Yogi Berra said it’s déjà vu all over again, he could have easily been talking about Ticketmaster and another unwelcome surprise for Springsteen fans,” said Pascrell, D-9th Dist. “But Americans have the right to enjoy some live entertainment without getting ripped off. Ticketmaster sees popular events as an opportunity to soak regular Americans.”

Pascrell said he and other members of Congress already are receiving complaints from Springsteen fans in the New Jersey and New York areas, even though tickets weren’t on sale there yet. He called on Ticketmaster to change its policies, or at least make them clear to customers, before the tickets are available.

Tickets for Springsteen’s concert in Philadelphia go on sale Tuesday while those for Newark , Manhattan , and Brooklyn will be available beginning Friday. “Fans should know exactly what they are getting into before getting involved with an always high stress concert ticket sale,” Pascrell said. “And I hope that these policies and prices are reconsidered, or at least better publicized to fans, before the bulk of the concert dates go on sale next week.
