Don Frost retires as an executive vice president and manager of Frost Bank's Capital Markets Division at the end of the week.
Come Monday, for the first time in the 156-year history of Frost Bank , a member of the Frost family will no longer be employed at the San Antonio -based bank. Don Frost , a great-great grandson of Frost Bank founder Thomas Claiborne “ T.C. ” Frost, is retiring at the end of the week after a career spanning more than four decades at the bank — a subsidiary of Cullen/ Frost Bank ers Inc. “I feel proud that I got to serve in the company for 41 years of that 156 years,” said Frost, 66.
“When I graduated college, I had all the intentions of going to the bank.” Instead of joining Frost Bank right out of college, though, he became a bank examiner for the Texas Department of Banking. His father didn’t even know he applied for the job until the elder Frost received a call from the agency’s deputy commissioner. He wanted to be sure Tom Frost wasn’t going to encourage Don Frost to come work at the bank. Little did the deputy commissioner know about Don Frost’s plans.
