Frisco PD issues alert about phone scams
Frisco police chief John Bruce Frisco police are warning residents of a scam where a person calls someone and pretends to be with law enforcement, saying there is a subpoena or warrant that needs taken care of by paying with a prepaid gift card.Police also included a few tips on the post: “Never give your personal information over the phone or email if you do not know the recipient. Never provide any form of payment or transfer money to resolve an issue this way.
With this scam, the caller is able to manipulate the caller ID so the call appears to be coming from a legitimate phone number such as “Plano Police” although the call is not coming from the Police Department..
