Paramount+'s upcoming Frasier reboot starring Kelsey Grammer gets an official score on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its October 12 premiere.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Frasier reboot has earned an official Rotten Tomatoes score. The upcoming Paramount+ Kelsey Grammer sitcom features the return of his iconic psychiatrist Frasier Crane, who was first introduced in season 3 of the long-running comedy Cheers. After Cheers ended with season 11, the spinoff Frasier launched in 1993, going on to run just as long, ending with its own season 11 in 2004.
Ahead of the Frasier reboot premiere on October 12, Rotten Tomatoes has aggregated an official score for the show. Out of 33 reviews, the show has earned a score of 64%. While it could fluctuate as more reviews are added after the premiere, it is currently a Fresh rating, though it can't quite compete with the original Frasier.
Could the Frasier Reboot Be as Popular as the Original? The fact that the original Frasier ran for exactly as long as the original Cheers shows how enduringly popular the character is on comedy television. However, it remains to be seen how long this new show will run. Frasier's two decades of dominating the airwaves ended quite a while ago, so it remains to be seen if the modern sitcom audience will embrace the new show in the same way.
It seems unlikely that the new show will have the ability to run for 11 seasons, given how different the streaming landscape is from network television. Streaming shows don't have the same kind of longevity, as exemplified by the fact that Netflix's upcoming Big Mouth season 8 will make that show the longest-running TV title the platform has ever put out.
So far, Paramount+ has found less longevity in its comedy shows, and its longest-running sitcom reboot was iCarly, which was just canceled after season 3. Ultimately, Frasier's longevity will be determined by the audience response. If they have a stronger reaction to the legacy characters and the return of Frasier's iconic comedy stylings than the critics, the show could at least earn season 2 before too long, getting the ball rolling on a possible extended run.
