At a work session Tuesday afternoon, City Council member Chris Nettles said he would like for the city’s definition of a “small amount” of pot to be changed to 4 ounces or less.

During a work session Tuesday, council member Chris Nettles said he would like Fort Worth to allow for people with 4 ounces or less of marijuana to be cited and released. In June 2021, Tarrant County officials announced that law enforcement would adopt a policy to cite people for “certain low-level, misdemeanor crimes in Tarrant County” instead of arresting them.Of the 230 marijuana-related cases in Fort Worth from October 2021-22, Nettles said, 16 people were cited and released.

“Some officers do have scales with them in their cars, but I can’t say every officer has a scale with them as part of their usual equipment,” he said.
