The sentence also includes three years’ probation, a $20,000 fine and 300 hours of community service,Gates was indicted in 2017 for helping Manafort conceal income and dodge taxes from lobbying work both had done on behalf of the Ukrainian government. Gates pleaded guilty in February 2018.U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman for no prison time after Gates gave “extraordinary assistance” to Mueller and the FBI during the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
