Two former juvenile corrections officers at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex have been indicted of official oppression. The indictments were handed down by a Brown County grand jury on February 15. The charges stem from separate incidents of excessive force against juveniles in custody.
Two former juvenile corrections officers at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex have been indicted of official oppression . Jorge Hernandez Jr., 29, is accused of using excessive force against a juvenile in custody on June 14, 2022. The indictment was handed down by a Brown County grand jury on February 15. Official oppression is a Class A Misdemeanor in Texas , punishable by up to a $4,000 fine and up to one year in jail.
The case is being prosecuted by the Texas Special Prosecution Unit (SPU). The indictment stems from an investigation by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department's Office of Inspector General. In a separate case, also presented to the grand jury on February 15, another former Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex officer, Austin Baugh, 29, faces the same charge
