Duke basketball gem Tre Jones displayed his impressive versatility for the Spurs once again on Tuesday night, posting double-digit points, boards, and dimes.
In a Tuesday night game featuring two of the NBA's elite rebounders in Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama, Duke basketball treasure Tre Jones managed to get his hands on 12 boards. He added 10 points, 11 assists, one steal, and one block for the Spurs in their 110-105 road loss to the Nuggets.
And Jones' effort as the starting point guard did not include a single turnover. The 24-year-old, a former second-round draft pick following his two memorable campaigns with the Blue Devils, shot 4-for-11 from the field and 2-for-5 beyond the arc in his 32 minutes on the floor. The performance marked Jones' first triple-double this season and the third of his pro career. The other two came last season., is now averaging 9.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and only 1.5 turnovers per game in what is his fourth season in the league, all with the Spurs.
Big shoutout to Tre Jones for making the cut as a finalist for the 2023-24 NBA Sportsmanship Award! 🙌He and the Spurs , currently at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, next face the New Orleans Pelicans on the road at 8 p.m. ET Friday. Of course, the Pelicans , tied with the Dallas Mavericks at No. 5 in the West, enjoy the star power of two NBA Blue Devils: eighth-year pro Brandon Ingram and Jones' former Duke teammate in fifth-year pro Zion Williamson.
