Former LA Clippers star Blake Griffin is considering retirement
of the Boston Globe that former LA Clippers star Blake Griffin is considering retirement. The 6x NBA All-Star has a spot saved with the Boston Celtics if he wants it, which is something Brad Stevens recently spoke on at ABCD Hoop Dreams.
"I'm not blowing smoke, it was as good as it gets," Stevens said of Griffin's time in Boston last season."He was unbelievable when he played and even better when he didn't. He has a fan for life from everybody in our organization. You know, if he decides to keep playing, he wants to come back out East, he knows we're a phone call away."
With a spot saved in Boston, Griffin is reportedly weighed his options as training camp approaches. Perhaps the former Clippers star is waiting to see what transpires in the weeks leading up to the regular season as looming blockbuster trades could change the landscape of the NBA while also opening up roster spots on teams currently without openings.
If Griffin does walk away, he will be leaving behind a Hall-of-Fame career that saw him evolve from an athletic monster with the Clippers to an all-around star with the Detroit Pistons, before becoming a high-level role player for the Brooklyn Nets and a respected veteran leader for the Boston Celtics.
