Victor Collins, 26, turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.to cover up an attack on an inmate.
Victor Collins, who was assigned to the Special Emergency Response Team in the Bexar County Jail, was arrested in February 2021 for allegedly assaulting inmate Sean Martinez. The inmate sustained substantial facial injuries, Sheriff Javier Salazar saidThe initial report filed by Collins and a second deputy indicated that there was no use of force, though the second deputy later recanted his account and admitted to falsifying the report, prosecutors said.
The indictment alleges that Collins altered documents in order to influence the course or outcome of the investigation. The indictment also alleged that Collins mistreated Martinez by unlawfully confining him in a cell without medical aid, knowing that he was injured.
