The maximum net income for Kansas SNAP recipients is $1,074 for a household of one, $2,587 for a household of five, and $3,722 for a household of eight. For each person in the household that exceeds eight, $379 is added to the maximum net income. Approximately 7% of the Kansas population receives SNAP benefits, amounting to 195,800 people. The average payment per household member is $171.Kansas residents began receiving a 10% increase in their food stamps from pre-March 2021 levels in October 2021 after the Kansas Department for Children and Families announced a change in the program.
The department had temporarily increased benefits by 15% between March 2021 to September 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but ended that at the beginning of October that year.
