A flood watch has been issued for Austin and the surrounding area — including Hays, Travis, Williamson and Comal counties — until 1 p.m. Thursday. This also includes the cities of San Marcos, New Braunfels and Georgetown.

If flooding is imminent or already occurring, the Weather Service will issueat Wirtz Dam and Starcke Dam Thursday morning, leading to higher water levels downstream of the dams. Wirtz Dam forms Lake LBJ and Starcke Dam forms Lake Marble Falls, both of which flow into Lake Travis and, eventually, Lady Bird Lake.: The website allows you to check rainfall totals for the area in near real time.
