Flood watch extended through 7:00 tonight
The National Weather Service has extended the flood watch for SE Texas through Sunday evening. We have the potential for another 1-3″ of rainfall Saturday night into Sunday morning. With how saturated our soils are it will not take much rainfall to see impacts. Excessive runoff is creating additional rises in rivers, creeks and streams. Those who live in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding should develop. Please stay weather aware.
Moderate to major flooding continues today into the upcoming week. Numerous county and farm-to-market roads are inundated. Several rivers are flooding including the Trinity River, San Jacinto River, and Brazos River . There are other rivers that are flooding too. You can see our stream status below, orAvoid parking along streams, rivers and creeks. Never drive around a barrier.
Please be careful with the high water. Not only can you be swept away, but floodwaters also hide dangers that can cause sickness, injury or even death! Do not let children play in floodwaters!A few showers will be possible overnight tonight, but the chance is only 20%. We will be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower-70s.Another chance for strong thunderstorms is possible Saturday morning. This may bring more flooding to parts of SE Texas.The highest risk for flooding Saturday is NW of town.
