Dolby Atmos is introducing a cool new feature called FlexConnect that will allow TV speakers to pair with other wireless speakers to optimize audio. TCL will be bringing the first TVs with FlexConnect.
FlexConnect enhances audio, by allowing the TCL TV to pair with any wireless speakers. It’s more than just a fancy name though. Dolby explains that FlexConnect will detect speaker locations and optimize audio, effectively creating a customized experience for users.
I remember several years ago we had to properly place speakers around and locate where blue or green goes. Anyone who set up a sound system back then will get this reference. Now though, acoustic mapping is also simple, as it uses microphones inside the TCL TV to locate the speakers. I swear, it’s so easy for folks today.
FlexConnect automatically adjusts audio according to the speaker. So for speakers at the back, the FlexConnect will tune their audio loud enough for background noise, and the ones in front for dialogue. It’s basically hassle-free. Most importantly, FlexConnect seems to free users from compatibility. This means, with FlexConnect you should be able to pair your TV sound to any wireless speaker of your choosing, without worrying if the two devices support each other.
