“How stupid would I be to do that? Is this camera on me? That’s stupid.” – R. Kelly. King said that she wanted to give Kelly an opportunity to address all of the allegations lobbied on him. She repeatedly asked specific questions about women who all said the same thing: that he is controlling, tells women when to eat and what to do.
Kelly’s big outburst – where he stood up out of his chair, cursed and cried – will definitely be interpreted in different, various ways by viewers. Given the optics of the situation, he did himself no favors. And given that one of King’s co-workers asked – on camera - if she felt safe, it belies how some people viewed the interview.
