Green Bay Packers' wide receiver Jake Kumerow is having another terrific training camp and is putting himself in position to win a starting job. McCarthy, the Green Bay Packers’ head coach from 2006-’18, had typically settled on almost all of his starters by mid-August. But things are different in Green Bay this summer.
Through two weeks of camp, Kumerow — an undrafted free agent in 2015 who’s been looking for a home ever since — has been the best of the bunch. Valdes-Scantling, a fifth-round draft choice in 2018, ranked seventh among rookie receivers in yards and ninth in receptions in 2018. He was expected to take a big jump this summer, but to date, has had a quiet camp.
