Fish samples from Bataan passed sensory analysis conducted by the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources , but succeeding third-party tests are still set to be carried out.According to the BFAR , fish samples from Limay, Orion, Balanga City, and Samal were tested for taste, raw, and cooked odor, and all passed sensory analysis, following the oil spill from the sunken motor tanker Terranova.
The BFAR has called on fisherfolk to promptly report any oil slick sightings, avoid contaminated areas, and use personal protective equipment when necessary. They are also called to immediately harvest shellfish or fish, and prevent further contamination by maintaining proper waste disposal and regular boat maintenance.
