First lady Jill Biden may attend King Charles coronation solo: report
Jill Biden may attend the coronation of King Charles III next month solo as President Biden still does not plan to be there.sources told The TelegraphThe 80-year-old commander in chief will likely send a delegation in his place that may include his wife as he has other commitments, the outlet reported.that the king’s coronation “does not feel like an event Joe Biden will attend.”
Heads of state from Ireland, France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Hungary and Monaco are expected to attend along with all three presidents of the EU — Ursula von der Leyen, Roberta Metsola and Charles Michel. Dame Karen Pierce, the British ambassador to the US, and Buckingham Palace aides have had “cordial and diplomatic” talks with the White House about the coronation and have been told that Biden, who went to the funeral of Charles’ mother Queen Elizabeth II, has other engagements scheduled at the time the coronation will be held.However, Bob Seely, a Conservative MP on the foreign affairs select committee, said the White House had made a “foolish decision” and urged Biden to reconsider.
