“While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture,” the statement reads. The SBC Credentials Committee, a volunteer panel that would vote on seating delegates at the business meeting, also did not respond to a request for comment.
