A few storms Friday afternoon into the evening could be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, hail and possible tornadoes.

Making weekend plans? You will want to watch this update! Amanda talks about on/off showers + storms Saturday and when we go back to sunnier weather ☀️for Saturday afternoon: additional showers and a few thunderstorms could be on the strong to severe side during the second half of your day. Morning showers will build south of Montgomery, then we get a little bit of a break; a line of activity then slides through our area, bringing with it another opportunity for impactful storms.

Main threats will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, large hail, and possible flooding. The tornado threat with this system is low, but not zero. Not all thunderstorms will be severe, some will just be lots with thunder and lighting. Friday’s temperatures only maxed out in the 70s thanks to the overcast sky and abundant shower activity. Winds will be out of the east around 5 to 10 mph, gusting higher at times. Some showers will continue into the nighttime hours and lows will be in the 60s and 70s with gusty winds continuing.Watch the latest live and local weather data below, streaming on WSFA Weather Now! Please note, this stream does not include live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions.

The trend of dry weather continues into the start of next week. Highs will warm into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all under a mostly to partly sunny sky. Lows will be mild in the 60s to start next week. The heat will continue late next week, as highs remain in the upper 80s to lower 90s. There is also some indication that a few showers and storms will move back into the region late next week, as we introduce rain chances on Thursday. Something we will watch closely and continue to adjust the forecast the closer we move into next week.
