The firefighters’ union will opposes Proposition C, a city charter amendment that would remove the salary and tenure caps on the city manager.

San Antonio’s firefighters’ union has come out against a city charter amendment on the Nov. 5 ballot to remove the restrictions the union got voters in 2018 to place on the city manager’s salary and tenure. “These measures were designed to ensure accountability, fairness and balance within our city’s administration,” San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association President Joe Jones said in a statement Monday.

Like Walsh, business leaders also revered Sculley. Walsh was a deputy or assistant city manager under Sculley for most of her 13-year tenure. Prop C would, per the ballot language, “grant to City Council the authority to set the full terms of the City Manager’s employment including tenure and compensation.
