Fire at Fallbrook apartment complex destroys one apartment, damages five others [Breaking]
Residents in six apartments in Fallbrook were displaced early Wednesday morning after a fire destroyed one apartment and smoke and water left the other units damaged, officials said.
The fire broke out shortly before 1:40 a.m. at the complex on West Fallbrook Street near Alturas Road. About 25 residents were evacuated, a sheriff’s lieutenant said. Firefighters were dispatched after someone called 911 to report seeing smoke and fire coming from a second-floor unit, said North County Fire Protection District Capt. John Choi. Firefighters searched for possible victims but no one was still inside the unit. He said smoke detectors helped alert everyone to the fire.“Crews did an excellent job to keep that fire contained to one apartment unit,” he said. “We had pretty fast knockdown.
About 28 firefighters from North County Fire, Vista, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside and Cal Fire were assigned to the blaze, he said.
