Filipinos in Gaza caught in the crossfire between Israel and Hamas may be able to cross the border in Egypt within the next 48 hours.
Filipinos in Gaza caught in the crossfire between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas may be able to cross the border in Egypt within the next 48 hours, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday. DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega made the statement following the report that United States President Joe Biden said that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has agreed to open the border.
According to him, there is no guarantee that Palestinians will be allowed to cross the border. “Ito ang problema: Sinabi na nila last weekend iyan tapos hindi rin natuloy. Kaya ang sinasabi ng Israel, 'just be ready at a moment's notice.' So, any time baka mabuksan. Handa naman tayo,” he said.
