Sendwave was founded in 2014 and since it kicked off operations in the Philippines in 2021, it has simplified the remittance process for OFWs in an affordable way. Users can send money directly from their phones through the Sendwave app, as easily as sending a text message. The app ensures that hard-earned money reaches loved ones fast, eliminating the need for form-filling, queuing, visiting banks or remittance centers.
Chang emphasized the importance of OFW remittances: “In 2023, OFW remittances constituted nearly 7.7% of the country’s GDP.
