Labor group Federation of Free Workers (FFW) backed the call for barangays to be more proactive in setting up a registration system for domestic workers to ensure that they get government-mandated benefits.

LABOR group Federation of Free Workers backed the call for barangays to be more proactive in setting up a registration system for domestic workers to ensure that they get government-mandated benefits.

“Nanawagan din ang FFW na pa-igtingin ng mga baranggay ang pagregistro ng mga kasambahay sa kanilang mga baranggay na inuutos ng Kasambahay Law o RA 10361,” it said. [The FFW also calls on the barangays to intensify the registration of maids in their barangays as mandated by the Kasambahay Law or RA 10361.]

The FFW issued the statement as they welcomed the recent approval of the P1000 wage hike for domestic workers in Metro Manila by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region. This brings the monthly take-home pay of domestic workers in the country’s capital to P6,000 a month.

For this year, the Cabinet-level Development Budget Coordination Committee also raised its projection for the country’s inflation rate this year to 3.7 percent to 4.7 percent from its previous assumption of 2 to 4 percent as it cited heightened external headwinds including the Russia-Ukraine war, China’s slowdown and monetary normalization in the United States.
