A church group from Fernandina Beach is now safely back home after finding themselves stranded in Israel amidst the ongoing conflict.

Senior Pastor Zach Terry of the First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach shared his account with Action News Jax of the chaos and the challenges they faced in ensuring the safe return of all their members.

Pastor Zach Terry described the trip as a wonderful experience until the third day on the ground when the conflict began. “We heard our first one coming into Jerusalem, we noticed people pulled over, ladies getting out of their car, ducking down and covering their heads. It didn’t occur to us what was going on... We opened the door to the bus and we heard the sirens and were like ‘Oh, there must be something in this region’ and sure enough within a 5-mile radius two missiles hit,” Pastor Terry stated.
