Banjo player Jim Waldin is fighting ALS and was surprised with a special performance by his fellow Mummers on Wednesday.

Jim is the second of five children as well as a husband and father in a family that is committed to staying by his side.“One of the expressions around is, ‘in this family, no one fights alone.’ And that’s with The Waldins, but it’s a Ferko family," his brother David Waldin said. "Jim and I go back all the way until I was five-years-old. He gave me my first-ever banjo, my first-ever instrument I wanted to learn. So, he’s always been a very special person to me," Scott Ratzke of the Ferko String Band said.
