on Oct. 10, 2023. Interstate 84 was closed in Summit County due to a fatal semi-truck crash that resulted in a gasoline spill.
According to Sgt. Cameron Roden with Utah Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. near milepost 117 between Henefer and Echo. Roden said a single unit fuel truck was pulling a tanker trailer when the vehicle lost control and the trailer started to spin.The truck allegedly rolled and the tank on the truck itself became disconnected, Roden said. The trailer also rolled and was on its side.
Officials said the truck was hauling fuel and the crash had caused the fuel to leak onto the roadway and was continuing to leak. As a result of the crash, westbound I-80 traffic could not merge onto I-84 and eastbound traffic on I-84 was rerouted back to Ogden at milepost 115.The crash remained under investigation. It was also unknown when the road would be reopened.
