The family of Sgt. Bill Hooser, who was hit and killed by the driver of a stolen semi-truck while on duty Sunday, released a statement in remembrance of him and
his love for his work. his love for his work. Michael Hooser , Sgt. Hooser's brother, said the family took solace knowing Sgt. Hooser died doing the job he loved.
He later joined the Santaquin City Police Department in 2017. Hooser was promoted from corporal to sergeant in February 2024.“His brothers and sisters in law enforcement, and the community he called home, thank you for your support and continued prayers and love, which are felt and needed at this time,” Michael said.
The Utah Highway Patrol received a call from a driver who reported a person standing on the back of a semi-trailer. A trooper and Sgt. Hooser located the semi and conducted a traffic stop.This is when he struck Hooser.
