Fair Park First/OVG has worked hard to be a good steward of the city’s crown jewel, raising private philanthropic funds for a new 18-acre community park, art restoration and programming. By installing point-of-sale technology in the Cotton Bowl, instituting cost-saving measures and increasing revenue, the partnership has saved the city of Dallas nearly $40 million in operating expenses.
Fair Park is the home to a great portion of the city of Dallas’ public art collection. Murals, bas reliefs and statues can be found throughout the park and in some of its most significant architecture. Now, through recently funded bond projects and private philanthropy, over $1.5 million will help pay for the restoration of a number of significant pieces, including the, the Texas History Frieze and federal medallions.
