The European Parliament (EP) has slightly shifted to the right after the latest election cycle earlier this month.

The far right racked up wins across much of Europe in the EU Parliamentary elections that just concluded. The elected MEPs are from different countries and political parties and work to form political groups. The MEPs elect a president for parliament and a president of the European Commission.show the Group of the European People's Party has the majority with 189 of the 720 seats. They consider themselves as a center-right group and are known as. The EPP is the oldest and largest group in the EP. Groups further right than EPP made gains in this election while many liberal groups lost seats.
Meanwhile, the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament now has 136 seats dropping from 141. The liberal group, Renew Europe, lost 21 seats., the most seats were won by the far right-wing group called the Identity and Democracy Group . ID holds 30 seats from France alone, 12 new seats out of France since the previous election. ID has 58 seats in the EP, a nine-seat increase since the last election.
A recent CBS/YouGov poll found the economy and inflation are the top issues for voters with the U.S.-Mexico border also a major factor for 56% of voters.
