Hundreds of people are estimated to have been killed by an explosion at a hospital in Gaza City. Israeli and Palestinian officials are each blaming the other for the suspected airstrike. The explosion at the Al Ahli Arab Hospital is estimated to have killed a minimum of 500 people. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has reportedly withdrawn from a planned meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday in protest of the explosion.
The Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, initially said an Israeli airstrike tore through Al Ahli Arab Hospital and estimated the number of fatalities at a minimum of 500. The Israel Defense Forces said it would investigate, then issued a statement disavowing involvement.
