To align with the ten FEMA regions responsible for emergency management, Army North has activated its ten Defense Coordinating. These are a specialized planning cells, led by a senior Army colonel, that serve as military liaison to coordinate federal assistance. Another 100 Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officers are also augmenting the Defense Coordination cells.

As of Thursday, close to 11,400 Guard members were activated and working in all 54 states, territories and the District of Columbia.
