Former San Francisco Giants player Aubrey Huff criticized his former team's historic move in hiring the MLB's first full-time female coach.
Giants manager Gabe Kapler announced the hire of former Sacramento State softball player Alyssa Nakken Thursday. In response to a news story about Nakken joining the Giants' staff, Huff,"couldn't imagine taking baseball instruction from an ex female softball player."
Earlier this month, Huff received criticism of his own after a tweet in which he advocated kidnapping and enslaving Iranian women. He claimed afterwards his language was satirical. Huff has also drawn backlash for his political views and is a supporter of President Donald Trump. In his post-playing career, Huff dabbled in the media, co-hosting a morning radio show in the Bay Area in 2014 and then serving as an assistant coach for Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego in 2015.
