7 candidates qualified for February 7th debate ahead of the New Hampshire primary
There are four declared candidates who did not qualify for the fifth debate: Michael Bloomberg, Tulsi Gabbard, Michael Bennet, and Deval Patrick.
Though Bloomberg did not qualify for Friday’s debate because he has not been accepting donations, the Democratic National Committee announced itbeginning with the February 19th debate in Nevada. The move drew widespread condemnation, with critics accusing the DNC of giving special treatment to the billionaire Bloomberg, while candidates of color like Cory Booker and Julián Castro were shut out of previous debates for failing to reach fundraising thresholds.
Among those who are upset is Sanders. “I think it is an outrage,” he said during a press conference in New Hampshire. “Listen, rules are rules, and people like Julián Castro played by the rules, campaigned really hard. Cory Booker played by the rules. Tulsi Gabbard played by the rules. Andrew Yang played by the rules.”debates following Friday’s — will take place February 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
