Netflix’s dystopian global sensation returns to the streamer on December 26, 2024, with a third and final season following in 2025.
Netflix announced the return of the global phenomenon with an Olympics-inspired trailer. The clip features athletes lined up on a track getting ready to race. Once the race begins, Squid Game contestants decked out in their classic green jumpsuits begin appearing—and then, dropping like flies on the track. The camera then pans to the Front Man and his masked, red-jumpsuit-wearing associates, who are watching the chaos as it unfolds. “It’s been three years,” says the Front Man.
” Season two will be helmed by Emmy-winning director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history in 2022 when he became the first Asian filmmaker to win outstanding directing for a drama series for the first episode of season one of Squid Game. Lee, who won the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series in 2022, will reprise his role, alongside fellow season-one characters: Front Man , Hwang Jun-ho , and the recruiter .
