Residents of one Alabama neighborhood had to shelter in place late Friday during a chaotic crime spree in Rainbow City.

A man shot himself following a police chase and a series of events that apparently left one person wounded Friday night in Rainbow City, according to an official with knowledge of the events.

Rainbow City Mayor Joe Taylor said authorities were investigating a house fire, a shooting in the Lister Ferry Road area and a shooting following a chase. The chase ended on Williams Avenue, a residential street, where the man took his own life, Taylor said.
