After a long weekend of overindulging, it’s time to pull out the gas stoves and candles once again as Eskom has recently announced that it will be implementing Stage 4 load shedding from today.
The power utility stated that the jump was due to more generation units failing, namely the Majuba Unit 5 and Tutuka Unit 4 which tripped, as perEskom announced the current load shedding stage via their social media platforms but did not elaborate on when load shedding would end. A statement is expected to be released shortly.
Regretfully, Eskom has just been forced to implement Stage 4 loadshedding at 07:20 following Majuba Unit 5 and Tutuka Unit 4 tripping. A full statement will be published in due course. The announcement has only added to the frustrations of South Africans as the power utility implemented Stage 2 load shedding on Sunday, which it said would be suspended at 5:00am on Wednesday, April 20.
“The loss of four additional generation units at Matla, Tutuka, Duvha and Arnot power stations over the past 24 hours, exacerbated by the delay in units returning to service at Camden, Matla, Grootvlei, and Tutuka power stations has unfortunately necessitated the implementation of load shedding,” the power utility said.
