Türkiye will not change its position on Sweden and Finland’s NATO bids unless membership aspirants Nordic countries prevent 'recruitment, fundraising and propaganda activities' of the PKK terror group, President Erdogan says

"Türkiye maintains the admission of Sweden and Finland entails risks for its own security and the organisation's [NATO] future," President Erdogan argues in The Economist article.

"We have every right to expect those countries, which will expect NATO's second-largest army to come to their defence under Article 5, to prevent the recruitment, fundraising and propaganda activities of the PKK, which the European Union and America consider a terrorist entity." Türkiye last week hosted consultations with Swedish and Finnish delegations on their NATO applications. Ankara says both Nordic countries have not taken the necessary steps regarding Türkiye's demands.
