CLEVELAND, Ohio – Scribbles in my Cavs notebook after they picked Emoni Bates with the 49th selection in the NBA draft:about how Bates would not have been my selection for the Cavs, even in a long-shot spot in the second round. The Cavs’ move wasn’t unreasonable. They probably weren’t going to find an immediate answer at small forward or a NBA-ready shooter in the second round. So they drafted for potential and physical upside with Bates.
