A senior union boss says Elon Musk is a 'perfect recruitment tool' for the trade union movement after the billionaire slashed Twitter's workforce
A senior union boss in the UK has said Elon Musk is a"perfect recruitment tool" for trade unions and that unions in the country have already seen increased sign ups from Twitter staff since his takeover of the company,"Elon Musk is a perfect recruitment tool for the trade union movement," the recently appointed head of Britain's Trade Union Congress, Paul Nowak, told Politico.
Nowak said that one of Britain's unions, Prospect — which represents engineers, managers and scientists — has seen the number of Twitter employees signing up increase"tenfold" since Musk became Twitter's CEO in October. Nowak said that the increase in sign-ups is a direct response to Musk, adding that he believes the billionaire"thinks he can issue a directive from San Francisco that somehow just happens all around the world with no regard to employment law."
