The Elmhurst History Museum will this week unveil a 160-year old portrait with remarkable historic significance for Elmhurst, in part because of its subject but also because of the reputation of the artist who painted it.
The restored and reframed portrait of Jennie Bryan was revealed at a recent reception by Elmhurst History Museum Curator of Collections Daniel Lund and Executive Director Dave Oberg .
The restored and reframed portrait of Jennie"jane" Byrd Bryan by renowned portraitist G.P.A. Healy will be on display in the Elmhurst History Museum this week. Museum sources say it was Bryan who facilitated the sitting for Healy’s 1860 painting of Lincoln without a beard.
