Elizabeth Warren’s newest policy proposal would expand tribal criminal jurisdiction to cover non-Native Americans accused of offenses on tribal land
Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren on Friday laid out her plans to increase federal support for Native American tribal nations, policies intended to overcome a “failing in our legal, political, and moral obligations toward tribal governments and indigenous peoples.”
The proposals for Tribal Nations and indigenous peoples comes ahead of the Native American Presidential Forum in Sioux City, Iowa, where Ms. Warren is slated to appear along with a handful of other presidential candidates on Monday.
