Summary Showrunner Erica Messer reveals what really happened to Elias Voit after the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 cliffhanger finale. After countless deaths, a couple of abductions, and months of tracking down Gold Star, FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit is finally able to get to the bottom of the mystery. As it turns out, it was spearheaded by Deputy Director Bailey’s brother, Pete, who was also used by Elias Voit to advance his own agenda.
“We thought we were going to be done creatively with Elias Voit at the end of the first season, sure. And then we weren’t. Then we thought the end of this season we’d be done with him, and it turns out we’re not. So, you will see him next year.” Since Voit was always one step ahead of the BAU throughout Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, it wouldn't be surprising if this is part of his plan to escape. Previously, the profilers got suspicious that he insisted on being transferred to the general population in prison when he thrives in isolation. Unfortunately, because of other matters, they weren't able to spend time ruminating on this. Staging a fake attack could be the reason why Sicarius wanted to be with other inmates.
